PHYBIT ANNOUNCES POWER AMPLIFIER LINEARIZATION ALGORITHM
Digital Predistortion Boosts Power Amplifier Energy Efficiency
Tokyo, Japan. 22 January 2009 Phybit Inc., today announced today the development of an energy-conservation scheme for power amplifiers used in broadband base stations. Details of this technology will be presented at IEICE conference on Radio Communications held in Kumamoto, Japan from 22 January to 24 January, 2009. Power amplifier efficiency is improved through digital pre-distortion (DPD) of transmit signal, which is a known art in the industry. The novelty of Phybit approach is the elimination of Lookup Tables that are necessary for non-linear signal processing commonly used in other DPD algorithms. This results in lower memory requirements and can lead to smaller, less expensive integrated circuits. The technology is therefore suitable for small base-stations such as femtocells and picocells.
